20 Dec Paradores selects Resuinsa to supply its 97 hotels for its quality
Resuinsa, a benchmark textile firm in the hospitality sector and market leader, has been chosen by Paradores de Turismo in Spain—the state-owned luxury heritage hotel chain—as its trusted supplier thanks to the quality, design and technological value of both its products and processes through its commitment to research, development and innovation in textiles.
For the fourth year in a row, the company will be dressing Paradores’ 97 establishments across Spain, representing over 30,000 hotel beds—a challenge for the firm as principal supplier to one of the benchmark hotel companies in Spain and internationally.
Paradores de Turismo reaffirmed its trust in Resuinsa after the firm was awarded a score of 98.96% in its textile services tender covering bedroom and dining room linens, duvets and plush fabrics. The score was awarded by the prestigious Leitat Technological Centre, which works across 45 countries around the world and is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
Resuinsa passed several tests, including those for technical criteria, showing that the firm’s textiles are the most resistant, softest, whitest and have the best quality in terms of confection and edges.
Resuinsa is the first company in the world to obtain quality certification for textile products apt for industrial laundry (UNE-EN ISO 15797:2004), making it a market leader in textile R&D&i. Paradores has seen fit to reward this effort by renewing its trust in Resuinsa’s products for the chain.
Technical features
Other features were also tested such as the degree of polymerisation, grammage, traction resistance, losses in laundry, colour fastness and details such as manufacture and confection. The score was supported by further specifications such as improved deadlines for implementing the general supply, as well as for delivering each individual order.
In this sense, and in bedrooms and dining, the benchmark company scored top marks in fabric softness and texture, confection and edge quality, level of whiteness, security finishes and labelling. In terms of plush fabrics, it again took first place for towelling softness and fluffiness, manufacture and Jacquard quality, level of whiteness, security finishes, corners and labelling.
Commitment to technologies that protect the planet
Paradores has acknowledged the effort Resuinsa has made in technology transfer for sustainability—a commitment in line with its environmental management model focused on reducing its environmental footprint and increasing its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in areas such as climate change, protecting biodiversity or better use and control of waste.
For Resuinsa CEO Félix Martí, winning the tender ‘is more than a contract, it represents a relationship based on a commitment to quality, innovation linked to sustainability and a common approach to respecting the environment‘.
‘Paradores is not just a benchmark in cultural tourism but also nature tourism, as many of its establishments are located in nature reserves. This is why this year we decided to go further and make a clear commitment to the latest technology aligned with SDGs for textile research that considers the planet—the kind of language we speak at Resuinsa‘, he states.
This approach at Resuinsa has been rewarded with STeP certification (Sustainable Textile Production) from the International Association OEKO-TEX®. The organisation accredits sustainable production with the permanent implementation of manufacturing processes that respect the environment, health and safety.
