07 Apr Circularis: a new generation of hospitality textiles driven by the circular economy
Resuinsa promotes a pioneering model that enables post-consumer textiles to be reintegrated into the production process while meeting professional standards
Circularis marks a turning point in circular economy hospitality textiles, enabling post-consumer hotel textiles to be reintegrated into the production process while maintaining professional standards.
As a result of a three-year CDTI R&D&I project, Resuinsa has developed a pioneering model on a global scale: a Circular Economy for Hospitality capable of giving a second life to textiles previously used in hotels.
This model takes shape through Circularis, the company’s new line, developed under the concept “Circularis Collection, Designed to Return.” It introduces a shift in professional textiles by incorporating recovered material from the very beginning of the production process. Each product includes at least 20% post-consumer raw material, sourced from textiles that have already completed their lifecycle within the hospitality environment.
Until now, no manufacturer in the sector had worked with this type of material. Unlike other textile waste, hospitality textiles involve a higher level of complexity due to their intensive use and the continuous industrial laundering processes they undergo. This directly impacts fiber strength and fabric performance.
This context required the development of a specific system capable of addressing the entire value chain: from collection at hotel facilities, through sorting and material preparation, to transformation into yarn and fabric suitable for a new professional use.
“The main challenge was not only to recover the material, but to ensure it could once again meet the standards required by the hospitality sector. We are talking about textiles subjected to highly intensive use, which means rethinking the entire process from the ground up,” explains Félix Martí, CEO of Resuinsa.
The objective has been to ensure that the new product maintains the required levels of quality in terms of durability, wash performance and consistency in finishing—key aspects in the daily operations of hospitality establishments.
With Circularis, Resuinsa introduces a new way of understanding the textile lifecycle in hospitality, integrating circularity into the production process itself and aligning with the sector’s evolving regulatory and sustainability requirements.
This development is part of a broader company strategy focused on delivering solutions that combine innovation, operational efficiency and a more responsible management of resources within the hospitality industry.
