VITA, Resuinsa’s new line to repurpose textile waste from the hotel sector

This is first collection from the many different lines and products Resuina is researching and developing through its CDTI RECOFID circular economy project.

Slippers used by guests, do not disturb sign hangers, tissue boxes, coasters, press bags or vanity cases for amenities: all these textile items could have a common denominator or second life thanks to Resuinsa’s VITA 100% hotel collection.

VITA is the first collection in different product lines to come to market thanks to the RECOFID project Resuinsa is developing with support from the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI). In this vein, our new collection continues to plot a path towards sustainability by incorporating completely recycled and recyclable products made from post-consumer hotel textiles.

VITA marks a step forward in the RECOFID project looking into different areas of research including the perfect 100% recycled and fresh fibre mix. The project underlines and reaffirms our commitment to the circular economy and real R&D&i development.

Recycling and new designs with the VITA collection

The VITA collection is a major step forward in the hotel sector, incorporating items fully made from recycled hotel textile waste. In this sense, it represents a currently unheard of circular economy model within the hospitality sector.

The collection includes slippers, planters, storage baskets, beach bags, card holders, folders, trays, tissue boxes, coasters, door hangers, mats, vanity cases, document holders and chair cushions.

‘As the name indicates, the collection gives a second life to used textiles. Every VITA item is not only an example of sustainability but also innovation, quality and design. Moreover, it is the first of several lines we are developing as part of the research project’, explains Resuinsa CEO, Félix Martí.

RECOFID project: 100% hotel-focused circular economy

The VITA 100% hotel collection originates with the RECOFID project—a pioneering initiative aimed at supporting textile waste management at hotels, in compliance with European Directive EU 2018/851 set to come into force on 1st January 2025. The directive includes an obligation for separate collection and recycling of textile waste that directly concerns the hotel industry.

Thanks to the RECOFID project, we are researching the introduction of an innovative system for collecting, processing and reusing hotel textile waste, and transforming it into new products.

‘We are creating a completely innovative circular economy model for textile waste from hotels for transformation into products for the sector. The VITA collection is a clear example of the circular economy and contributes to cutting the use of raw materials and energy, whilst promoting recycling and reuse’, summarises Martí.
