27 Mar Ultra Violet becomes the main colour for linens
The trendy colour of the year 2018 is Ultra Violet, a purple shade that was chosen by Pantone, the quintessential company that markets colour samples. While last year was dominated by Greenery, this year is all about an intense, dark and elegant shade that conveys originality, ingenuity and imaginative thinking. Furthermore, Ultra Violet has a spiritual and cosmic nuance to it that makes it enigmatic and attractive.
Ultra Violet is now the main character in fashion and decoration. As it is a very deep and sophisticated shade with personality, it combines very well with other contrasting colours of the colour wheel. It can already be seen in the linens for the hospitality industry, especially in table linens, as we will show at the Hostelco trade fair.
When a table is dressed in this trendy colour, it appears combined with other hues of purple, maroon, pink and, in many cases, contrasting with white, in tablecloths, napkins or table runners. It also contrasts with the rest of the decorative elements, such as the dinnerware and tableware. In fact, the golden, green and blue shades add unique and colourful splashes that emphasize the deep purple tone. This kind of decoration will be very present at the wedding season that starts soon as well as at outdoor events.
In a room Ultra Violet can be combined using other elements instead, such as pillows, cushions or throws, so we can get a sophisticated and trendy look just with that colour touch. To achieve a bigger contrast and to make it match perfectly, the rest of the decoration should be in neutral shades, such as greys or beiges.
