03 Feb Solutions for hotel textile waste: Resuinsa joins RE-VISTE SCRAP system for textiles
The company leapfrogs European regulations and underlines its commitment to a more responsible textile model
Resuinsa has taken a new step forward in its commitment to the circular economy, becoming the first textile company in the hospitality sector to join the RE-VISTE SCRAP scheme (Collective Extended Producer Responsibility System) for textiles and footwear in Spain focused on handling proper textile waste. The company has signed up to the scheme in its voluntary phase, anticipating future regulatory requirements and underlining its commitment to a more responsible approach to textiles.
In this sense, Resuinsa is not only one step ahead of European regulations but will also enhance the project through its vision and experience in the hotel sector, positioning itself as a key SCRAP stakeholder. By providing strategic approaches such as its hotel collection model and logistics chains, as well as the implementation of the eco-tax, it aims to contribute to a sustainable model that minimises economic impact on hoteliers.
Resuinsa’s incorporation enables hotel businesses to transform an everyday activity into action that has a real impact. Every textile item coming to the end of its shelf life at hotels joins a circular model that cares for the environment and represents a new way of framing hospitality: more aware, more committed and more aligned with what matters to guests today. Moreover, it helps hoteliers comply with environmental accreditation schemes.
What is the RE-VISTE SCRAP for textiles system?
The RE-VISTE Collective Extended Producer Responsibility System (SCRAP) has been created to deal with textiles and footwear coming to the end of their shelf life. The scheme has a clear purpose to square the circle by ensuring efficient, traceable and collaborative collection, reuse and recycling.
RE-VISTE is a collective project currently setting the pace for the circular economy and supported by companies such as Inditex, Mango, El Corte Inglés, Ikea, H&M, Decathlon, Kiabi, Sprinter, JD Sports, Mayoral and Primark. By bringing Resuinsa onboard—a global benchmark in hotel sustainability—it will now get to see what the hotel sector is doing. The firm’s experience in responsible hotel textiles will offer a complementary, strategic perspective to the SCRAP ecosystem.
