08 Jun Resuinsa celebrates its 50th anniversary through an immersive textile experience of a century in business
The company brought over 200 people together in Valencia, including leading lights from the hotel, design and gastronomy industries for the concurrent 100th anniversary of the Resuinsa Group
Chef Begoña Rodrigo and interior designer Teresa Sapey reflected on the hospitality industry’s future prospects alongside Resuinsa CEO, Félix Martí
One hundred years ago, a young 14-year-old boy set sail on the good ship Esperanza (Hope) to learn about textiles in Barcelona. A century later, this family origin story brought together over 200 people in Valencia to celebrate both Resuinsa’s first 50 years and Resuinsa Group’s centenary. Guests included representatives from RE-VISTE, ATEVAL, FELAC and AITEX, as well as other professionals and organisations tied to the sector. The unmissable event journeyed through the company’s history, reflected on the future in hospitality and paid homage to all those who have contributed to the company’s evolution over the last five decades.
Resuinsa turned textiles into the guiding thread for the entire experience, transforming the venue into an immersive journey of its history through all five senses. Guests were welcomed with an artistic performance combining dance and fabrics to represent generational change, whilst a tree of wishes wrapped in majestic textiles encouraged customers to leave written messages for the future. Every detail of the evening was carefully crafted to highlight how textiles are part of the experience enjoyed by millions of hotel guests around the world.
Hospitality, design and gastronomy: a singular experiential vision
The event centred around the company’s founding family and an emotional journey through four generations who have driven the group’s transformation, from the time when Mateo Martí emarked on his trip to Barcelona to the founding of what is today the Resuinsa Group, to his son Félix Martí Olivares whose vision led to the creation of Resuinsa in 1976. A journey combining consistency, effort and hope that has cemented the group’s presence today in over 150 countries.
Another key moment was the discussion between Resuinsa CEO, Félix Martí, interior designer and architect, Teresa Sapey, and local Valencian chef and Michelin star awardee, Begoña Rodrigo. These three leading lights from different spheres shared the stage to reflect on how hospitality, design, gastronomy and textiles have evolved towards the same goal: creating experiences that remained in people’s memories through sustainability, innovation and emotional personal connections.
In this sense, Martí stated that family firms bring ‘an added plus to personal and professional development where expertise and modernisation are the basis for future and ongoing success’. He also outlined the group’s capacity for international growth whilst maintaining its core family values and ties to Valencia, exporting Valencian and Spanish hospitality expertise across the five continents. In turn, Sapey asserted how design is a tool able to transform spaces and spark emotions, whilst Rodrigo placed the spotlight on authenticity and the need to preserve a human touch in an environment geared ever more towards customer and guest experience.
Beyond celebrating a mere number, the event also aimed to acknowledge all those who have played a role in this history. All the customers, collaborators, employees and generations of the same family who together have constructed a business project that continues to look to the future under the same banner that accompanied its very beginnings: hope.
