12 Sep Resuinsa: 20 years committed to the environment
In 1998, when environmental issues and concern for natural resources were not top priorities for many firms, Resuinsa became the first hospitality sector company to commit to quality products that eliminated chemical and harmful substances for health. Over each and every one of these 20 years, Resuinsa has emphasised its concern for the environment and its clients’ health. It has collaborated, and continues to do so, with inspections carried out by the Textile Technology Institute (AITEX) that continually and rigorously analyse textiles to test their quality.
All this has enabled the company to obtain—and retain over the last two decades—the international Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, which requires analysis and precision conditions that go far beyond those set out in national legislation. In this sense, the work undertaken over these last 20 years in environmental issues has meant Resuinsa continues to be at the vanguard of product quality and, once again, has retained its certification. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a top global ecological certification for textile products that is renewed on a yearly basis. The requirements are very strict, including the fact that all components in an item must comply with the required quality criteria, without exception. In this vein, the analyses comprise: complete absence of any prohibited substances or products known to be harmful to health and full compliance with occupational health parameters.
The certificate is issued by an independent body, based on continual, rigorous tests of the textiles by AITEX in Spain—a certifying body member of the Oekotex Association®
Resuinsa CEO Félix Martí states that being one of the first companies to attain this certification and to have managed continuous renewal over 20 consecutive years “provides great satisfaction as it underlines the quality and trustworthy nature of our textiles. Our commitment to innovation means we are more demanding every day, with sustainable, transparent and clear production that enables Resuinsa to main ongoing improvements in environmental protection, quality, CSR, and health and safety”. After two decades, the company’s services are not merely centred on the environmental quality of its products but also on R&D&i and sustainability in their broadest sense. This can be seen in the daily work undertaken by the R&D&i department at the company with smart textiles, keeping us at the forefront of innovation and technology in the hospitality sector. Smart textiles are a true revolution for the sector since they help in the digitisation and traceability of products. This is an important need in the hotel industry that Resuinsa is servicing through several projects.
