How hotels can win the battle Against single-use plastic

Although many hotels have eliminated a large part of single-use plastics, a silent enemy still remains in their closets: the plastic bags used to protect certain textiles.

In a sector that talks about sustainability every day, Resuinsa has decided to stop talking… and start stitching it into reality. The company announces a new alternative designed to replace plastic packaging with textile bags made from post-consumer fiber. A practical, circular solution created to take one more step toward reducing waste within hotels.

The idea is based on a simple premise: “If we are already able to transform hotel textile waste into new products, why not do the same with our packaging?” These bags, made from post-consumer fiber—obtained from textiles that have reached the end of their useful life and transformed through advanced recycling processes—allow blankets, duvets, pillows, and accessories to be stored and protected without relying on the plastic that typically accompanies these items.

As the conceptual framework of the project, the company introduces the claim Redesigning the footprint of every fiber,” a statement of principles that reflects the intention to rethink the entire textile lifecycle—from its origin to its use in the hotel—in order to move toward more responsible and sustainable models.

The proposal responds to a growing demand within the sector: maintaining coherence between a hotel’s sustainability message and the everyday decisions that make it possible. A commitment that Resuinsa reinforces through this project, as noted by Félix Martí, Managing Director of the company: “Each hotel decides the footprint it wants to leave; our mission is to offer alternatives that make that journey more responsible.”

More than a simple change of wrapping, the initiative opens up a real way to integrate circularity into daily hotel operations. The bags are reusable, durable, and aligned with current industry requirements, where sustainability is no longer an added value but a shared responsibility. In addition, they are washable, extending their lifespan and allowing them to be easily integrated into the hotel’s internal operations.

With this line of research, Resuinsa demonstrates that the evolution of the sector does not move forward through grand speeches, but through tangible decisions. Less plastic, more circularity, and a firm step toward a future in which every fiber—and every hotel—contributes to a more positive impact.
