08 Jun 1976: the beginning of the professionalisation of hospitality textiles in Spain
Resuinsa marks 50 years after half a century supporting the transformation and international expansion of the hospitality sector
The professionalisation of hospitality textiles in Spain began to take shape in 1976, at a time when tourism was growing rapidly and hotels were starting to require products designed specifically for their operational needs. In this context, Resuinsa was created to respond to a new level of demand in the hospitality sector.
It was in this context, in 1976, that Resuinsa was created. Most products for hotels were not designed for a sector with specific operational needs. Hotels were beginning to require textiles capable of withstanding industrial laundering, maintaining a consistent image and responding to an increasingly demanding sector.
In this sense, Félix Martí Olivares understood that the growth of tourism would transform the way hotels operated and that the hospitality sector would require a new level of specialisation. With this vision, Resuinsa began to develop textiles designed for intensive use, focusing on quality, durability and adaptation to each establishment. Beyond the product itself, the company’s founder recognised the need to professionalise the relationship between hospitality and textiles.
From tourism growth to international expansion
Over the years, Resuinsa has supported the development of the Spanish hospitality sector. Spain consolidated its position as a leading tourism destination, while hotel chains began their international expansion.
In this process, the company expanded its industrial capacity and developed new solutions tailored to the sector, including textiles designed for continuous industrial laundering. Today, Resuinsa operates in more than 150 countries across five continents, exporting from Spain its expertise, design and textile specialisation for the hospitality sector.
In this sense, the vision that drove Félix Martí Olivares remains in place today: “Resuinsa was created with the understanding that the hospitality sector would require a level of professionalisation that did not yet exist at the time,” explains Félix Martí, Resuinsa CEO. “That ability to anticipate change and grow alongside our clients remains part of our identity.”
In 2026, Resuinsa celebrates its 50th anniversary, while Resuinsa Group marks 100 years of history linked to textiles. A journey shaped alongside the evolution of hospitality and tourism, two of the most dynamic sectors in the transformation of the Spanish economy.
