Resuinsa boosts its presence in Mexico after doubling turnover there in only five years

Resuinsa, the international textile firm with over 43 years’ experience, today announced it will be boosting its presence in Mexico to consolidate its international expansion and footprint after doubling its turnover there in just five years.

In this vein, the firm is making headway in the sixth largest tourism destination in the world with over 40 million visitors per year from across the five continents. The sector represents over 17% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Mexico and has moved up two spots in the global rankings this last year.

According to Resuinsa CEO, Félix Martí, ‘it is an honour to be able to dress hotels in one of the globe’s top tourist destinations and showcase quality Spanish products to compete with the top local suppliers‘.

He adds that ‘over the years, the company’s products have been widely welcomed in this demanding market with a strong textile tradition, and showcase its rigorous standards in quality and innovation applied to a highly valued product in Mexico’.

Resuinsa is consolidating its presence in a country with several busy tourist destinations such as Cancún (where it has established a base), Acapulco, Mazatlán, Guadalajara, Veracruz, Mexico DF, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos. All the hotel chains that currently work with the firm—both Spanish and international—operate establishments in these areas, including Marriot, JW Marriot and Renaissance.

In light of this, the company has decided to boost its presence in Los Cabos (an area known for its luxury tourism) by hiring Mª José Quiroz. Mª José is a top professional who has spent her career in the hospitality sector, holding different posts such as purchasing manager at renowned hotel companies. This experience has helped her see first-hand the quality of Resuinsa’s products and commit to a project that seeks to ‘woo the entire country’.

This appointment strengthens the firm’s strategy to consolidate its footprint in a major successful market, where the outlook for growth looks bright, in light of what the company has achieved there over the last five years.

Resuinsa’s commitment to smart textiles and innovation has enabled it to adapt to sector requirements and offer a different, highly advanced product line thanks to RFID technology providing product traceability, and stock management and control. Moreover, the company’s commitment to R&D&i has enabled it to develop new functionalities, offering high value added through attaining and optimising special textile finishes.

In this sense, Mexico is a land of opportunity, an expanding market where the hotel industry is one of the engines of the economy, representing nearly 9% of GDP; in turn, according to figures from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the tourism industry as a whole is worth 17.2% of GDP.
