23 Jan 1.200 million tourists around the world
The World Tourism Organisation confirmed last week that more than 1,200 million people travelled in 2016, 4% more than in the previous year. Added to this is the record of tourists received by Spain last year, with 74.5 million people, according to the report of Exceltur that was revealed at FITUR. This international trade fair, which ended on Sunday, brought 165 countries together and Resuinsa has presence in 54.5% of them.
Thus, this important presence of Resuinsa in more than half of the countries promoted at the fair means that our internationalization strategy focuses on the global tourist destinations that are strongly committed to this industry. This is the path to follow so that our expansion goes on, with the aim of reaching 120 countries by 2019.
The data on global tourism are positive for most of the nations. In fact, the countries in which our companies abroad are located (Cape Verde, Mauritius, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, USA and Sri Lanka) already number 123 million travellers. The United States heads the list with 74 million visitors, followed by Mexico with 32 million.
