Throughout our years of experience in the hotel linen industry we have always been particularly concerned about the environment and its sustainability. Just as our clients are requested to be eco-friendly and reuse towels, we are also making our contribution. “Socially-conscious” consumption alludes to the growing importance that the consumers place on health, the environment and human rights.

To demonstrate our commitment to the protection of the environment, we have created an official, all-encompassing certification, which includes not only environmentally friendly issues, but also health and safety concerns and the social aspect of our human resources.

The aim of certification STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) is the implementation of environmentally friendly production processes that also grant the best working conditions in terms of health, safety and social aspects.

The dynamic development of the STeP certification Standard improves the certified companies’ recognitions in terms of environmental protection and social responsibility, as well as performance and efficiency.

Unlike most other certification systems, which only take into account certain individual sustainability aspects, the STeP certificate carries out a thorough analysis and evaluation of the sustainable production conditions. In addition, the STeP requisites and criteria are especially targeted at the textile industry.

To ensure the certificate’s global compatibility the STeP criteria are standardized worldwide. These criteria are continuously being analysed, assessed and updated.

The responsibility of the STeP certification lies with the OEKO-TEX® International Association, with its 15 member institutes and representative offices in more than 60 countries around the world. The OEKO-TEX® institutes are licensed research centres with their own textile analyses, a deep knowledge of the sector and years of experience on the specific conditions of the textile industry.

Made in Green was a certificate issued by Aitex, which granted that the product was free from harmful substances and its production had been respectful with the environment and the employees’ human rights.

  • Health: the textile product is free from harmful substances, in accordance with the Oeko-tex 100 certification.
  • Respect for the environment: the textile product has been produced in production centres with an environmental management system which has been audited and certified externally, such as ISO 14001, Oeko-tex 100, EMAS or equivalent.
  • Respect for the human rights: respect for the employees’ universal human rights in accordance with the International Labour Organization in the textile production centres audited and certified by an independent recognized entity, a code of conduct and social responsibility such as, SA8000 or equivalent.

Resuinsa, was the first company of its sector to obtain the Made in Green certificate by Aitex in the year 2008. The certificate was renewed annually until the certification authority was acquired by the OEKO-TEX® international institute and the Made in Green certificate ceased to be emitted in 2015.

The Made in Green criteria will be applied through the STeP certificate (under Resuinsa certification process). Nonetheless, everything that the Made in Green quality certificate represents is still effective in Resuinsa and we continue to apply strictly every requisite.
